The Buddy App was a response to the RSA design comp 2019. The aim was to make use of A.I features in order to combat a problem of now. The problem selected was loneliness and social isolation in adults aged 70+. The app works by connecting its users based on their mutual interests creating friendships. The users can then grow their friendships by engaging in the activities the A.I features schedule for them and are rewarded by a points system. With the support of the local community the points can be used to earn discounts in business, activity centers around their location. The more activities the friendship is engaged in, the greater the reward, encouraging the user to continue participating in activities in their new found friendships.
