Vanishing Dublin
Client: Personal Project
Deliverables: Exhibition Piece
Brutalist architecture is destroying much of Dublin’s history from the walls around us. For this project, I was tasked with selecting a historical building to create an exhibition piece on. The cast study for the project was Busáras, the central bus station in Dublin.
The aim of the project was to display the impact of the building on its surrounding area, transforming what was scrap yards and storage facilities for the adjacent river Liffey, into a vibrant transportation hub in the heart of the inner city.
The map shows the Store Street area up to the 1920s; The black perspex circles chart the development of the area in intervals spanning from 1920-1988. A laser cutter was used to etch the maps and create the type. The user can then place the black circles upon the map to see the area’s development.
